North Central Texas Council of Governments - It's Your Region
The North Central Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. NCTCOG's purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions.

 

Regional 9-1-1 - What's Your Emergency
NCTCOG's 9-1-1 program provides service and administration through system upgrades and maintenance, public education and training of Public Safety Answering Point personnel, and solutions that will take the region into the next generation of 9-1-1.




Research & Information Services - Enabling Effective Government
NCTCOG's Research & Information Services department serves the people of North Texas by providing data collection, analysis, and modeling on a variety of topics including population, housing, employment, economic development, and land use.  The department supplies useful information to the public through development and support of unique applications including technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Internet applications, and others.  These same technologies and concepts are used to support other governmental entities as they deliver services to their citizens.  Additionally, RIS assists other NCTCOG departments enhance their interactions and service delivery by maintaining superior and secure communication with their employees and customers in familiar formats and forums.  The information and technologies are made available to internal and external customers and constituents by maintaining a network of over 80 servers and over 700 computers in locations throughout the NCTCOG 16 county region.  The services are provided to customers through a reliable and secure network by implementing and managing leading information security technologies.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments goal of the Emergency Preparedness Department is to enhance lasting partnerships and proactive Emergency Preparedness initiatives through advocacy, communication, and collaboration.



Workforce Solutions - Getting North Central Texas Working
Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas provides leadership to our extensive network of workforce centers and service providers who are dedicated to assisting employers in finding the right employee. The North Central Texas Workforce Development Board includes 32 representatives of business, industry, education and community organizations focused on the needs of the North Central Texas community.



Transportation - We're Getting You There Today
Regional transportation planning in North Central Texas is conducted by the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) comprised of the Regional Transportation Council, NCTCOG Executive Board, several technical committees, and the NCTCOG Transportation Department.  The MPO works with federal, state, and local governments; transportation agencies; the private sector; and the region’s citizens to plan and implement coordinated transportation systems designed to move people and goods affordably, efficiently, and safely.

 




Regional Police Academy - Training the Officers Who Protect You
The Regional Police Academy (RPA) has over 44 years of experience in providing law enforcement training to the law enforcement community of the NCTCOG region. The RPA provides the Basic Peace Officer Course for departments newest recruits and advanced courses for the continuing education requirements of in-service officers.

The Department of Environment and Development helps local communities work together to make a difference on critical environmental issues and foster a sustainable North Texas. Right now, our region is the 4th largest in the nation and we are growing fast. This growth means that the issues we address - from water, to solid waste, to smart growth, to energy efficiency - matter more than ever for our region’s future success.




Agency Administration - Passionate About Our People
Agency Administration is responsible for fiscal management, grants administration and budgeting; administration of purchasing, human resources, insurance, the retirement system, records management, and office space; as well as operation of the office supply, mailroom and copy center.




Area on Aging - Regional Ombudsman
An ombudsman is a specially trained and certified volunteer or professional who advocates for quality care in Texas' long-term care facilities. The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is always in need of caring volunteers to serve with its Ombudsman Programs. No prior experience is required.




Area on Aging - Aging Programs Coordinator
The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is a program of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).  It plans, coordinates and delivers services to persons age 60 and over and their family caregivers who live in Collin, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell and Wise counties.
